For my Communication and Multimedia Design (CMD) program, I designed an app with a fellow student based on our shared love for travel. The app, The ExploreList, is a bucket list app where users can create and complete goals in different categories with friends. Users can also share their achievements on a social feed to inspire each other.
With this app, we wanted to break the stereotype of travelers “throwing their lives away.” Instead, we aimed to show that traveling is a way to learn more about yourself, explore different cultures, and gain meaningful experiences.
Note: The video to the right contains a beep sound, so you may want to lower your volume slightly.
We gave the app an illustrative look to make it feel more engaging and friendly. The design reflects the spirit of adventure and exploration, helping users connect with the idea of discovering new places and cultures in a fun and visually appealing way.
The “For You” page shows fun posts from travelers around the world as they complete bucket list items. By sharing real experiences, we break the stereotype that traveling is just about escaping; instead, we highlight how it’s about personal growth, new discoveries, and meaningful memories.
This screen, where you can post requests to find travel buddies worldwide, is a great feature because it connects like-minded travelers, making it easier to share experiences and explore new places together. This feature helps users feel more comfortable and supported, especially when traveling to unfamiliar destinations, fostering a sense of community and adventure.
