Team Gullit is a Dutch esports organisation in the EA FC scene. They help young players develop into professionals, not just by coaching their game but also by building their personal brand through content and design.
During my internship, Team Gullit was acquired by Team Liquid, one of the biggest esports organisations in the world. I was part of the whole process, from internal communication to the public announcement. The brand stayed the same, with content and community at its core.
Designing posts, graphics, and tournament visuals for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X, always within the Team Gullit identity. From eDivisie and eChampions League visuals to the Team Liquid acquisition announcement.
From week 7 onwards I managed all platforms independently. Scheduling content, writing captions in the right tone per platform, and keeping engagement up through interactive posts.
Weekly brainstorms with the team to look at what worked, spot trends, and come up with new ideas. One post about siblings in football ended up going viral with over 1M views.
Giving daily feedback to freelance editors and designers. Checking for mistakes, improving pacing and visual style, and making sure everything matched Team Gullit's tone. It pushed me to be more direct and specific in how I communicate.
Managing the social media calendar and assigning tasks to editors and designers via Notion, including writing clear briefs with what to make and when to deliver.
Weekly shoots at Team Gullit HQ where I set up cameras and lighting, directed the players during recordings, and prepared all footage and briefs in Notion for the editors.
Ten weeks at Team Gullit pushed me well beyond just designing. I had to adapt quickly to an existing brand, work across different disciplines, and go from observer to full team member while helping manage the channels of an organisation being acquired in real time.
